Structural Equation Model on Work Engagement among Employees of Large Retail Enterprises in Region Xii

    Get PDF
The ultimate goal of this research undertaking was to identify the best fit model involving the following exogenous variables: transformational leadership, motivation, and human resource management practices to endogenous variable – work engagement. A survey questionnaire was issued to the various large retail employees in Region XII, Philippines with 425 respondents for the purpose of data collection. The research method used in the analysis was descriptive — correlation design was used to find the best fit model through structural equation modeling. The results revealed that the model presented positive relationship between transformational leadership, motivation and human resource management practices and work engagement. Nevertheless, the three established exogenous variables of transformational leadership, motivation, and human resource management practices emerged as the primary predictors of work engagement, taking into account their observed variables as depicted in the study's final and best fit model

Matchmaking and Traditionally Arranged Marriages And Domestic Violence In Rural Sindh, Pakistan

This paper aims to explore the experience and understandings of men about domestic violence and concepts regarding the different types of marriages performed in the rural Sindh, Pakistan. The participants lived experiences of the male participants’ have been explored to find out the major effects of matchmaking and traditional types of marriage approaches. Apart from that, the men’s perception, social, cultural, and religious beliefs regarding the marriage have been discussed that how does matchmaking and traditionally arranged marriages influence the domestic violence in rural Sindh, Pakistan. Thus, a qualitative study on 12 in-depth interviews with married men from three different age groups – young, middle, and old age of men were undertaken. Data were analyzed using NVIVO software. The major findings indicated that in this type of traditional marriages, men enjoyed the power and superiority over the women, and women are beaten up frequently by husband or by the rest of the male member of the family

Intravenous immunoglobulin therapy among pediatric patients: labeled and off-labeled indications

This study was designed to evaluate utilization patterns and clinical outcome of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) therapy among pediatric patients in a tertiary hospital. Demographic data, IVIG prescribed, and clinical outcome were retrospectively reviewed from the pharmacy dispensing data and patient medical records between 2007 and 2014. One hundred and fifteen instances of IVIG administration to 108 pediatric patients were recorded. A total of 61 cases (53%) and 54 cases (47%) of the IVIG administered were for labeled and off-labeled indications, respectively. Age, weight, specialty, total IVIG usage, length of hospital stays, and mortality rate were found to be significantly associated with the indication being labeled or off-labeled (p;0.05). Guidelines should be developed and implemented for rational and evidence-based use of IVIG to avoid unnecessary wastage

A FRAMEWORK FOR DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIAL NETWORKING SITE SKILL AMONG RURAL WOMEN COMMUNITIES

    Get PDF
Purpose: A Social Networking Site (also social networking service or social media) is a platform to make people connected and share anything about them. The purpose of this research to construct a framework for the Development of Social Networking Site Skill to help women in rural areas to face the growth of ICT. This paper discusses how the proposed framework can help them to develop their skills of marketing using the SNS. This kind of effort, hopefully could empower the targeted marginalized group with the knowledge of information engineering, increase their awareness and utilization of ICT in their everyday actions. Methodology: The data obtained are the result of on-going projects in Setiu Wetlands, Terengganu.  Community rural women in Setiu Wetlands are respondent for this study. A total of 30 people (identified as women entrepreneurs) were respondents and profile data was preliminary studies about the skills and existing ICT literacy and internet use. Main Findings: Based on profiling data that have been collected, a framework for the development of skills in using social media as a business medium has been developed. Implications/Applications: The framework developed is expected to produce successful entrepreneurs from rural women communities. The entrepreneur will be an example to other women. This effort also is expected to help rural women community can improve the living standards of their families

Ontology-Based Question Answering System in Restricted Domain

    Get PDF
The complexity of natural language presents difficult challenges that traditional Questions and Answers (Q&A) system such as Frequently Asked Questions, relied on the collective predefined questions and answers, unable to address. Traditional Q&A system is unable to retrieve exact answer in response to different kind of natural language questions asked by the user. Therefore, this paper aims to present an architecture of Ontology-based Question Answering (OQA) system, applied to library domain. The main task of OQA system is to parse question expressed in natural language with respect to restricted domain ontology and retrieve the matched answer. Restricted ontology model is designed as a knowledge base to assist the process based on the effective information derived from the questions. In addition, ontology matching algorithm is developed to deal with the questionanswer matching process. A case study is taken from the library of Sultanah Nur Zahirah of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. A prototype of Sultanah Nur Zahirah Digital Learning ONtologybased FAQ System (SONFAQS) is developed. The experimental result shows that the architecture is feasible and significantly improves man-machine interaction by shortening the searching time

Graph Theoretic Lattice Mining Based on Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) Theory for Text Mining

    Get PDF
The growth of the semantic web has fueled the need to search for information based on the understanding of the intent of the searcher, coupled with the contextual meaning of the keywords supplied by the searcher. The common solution to enhance the searching process includes the deployment of formal concept analysis (FCA) theory to extract concepts from a set of text with the use of corresponding domain ontology. However, creating a domain ontology or cross-platform ontology is a tedious and time consuming process that requires validation from domain experts. Therefore, this study proposed an alternative solution called Lattice Mining (LM) that utilizes FCA theory and graph theory. This is because the process of matching a query to related documents is similar to the process of graph matching if both the query and the documents are represented using graphs. This study adopted the idea of FCA in the determination of the concepts based on texts and deployed the lattice diagrams obtained from an FCA tool for further analysis using graph theory. The LM technique employed in this study utilized the adjacency matrices obtained from the lattice outputs and performed a distance measure technique to calculate the similarity between two graphs. The process was realized successively via the implementation of three algorithms called the Relatedness Algorithm (RA), the Adjacency Matrix Algorithm (AMA) and the Concept-Based Lattice Mining (CBLM) Algorithm. A similarity measure between FCA output lattices yielded promising results based on the ranking of the trace values from the matrices. Recognizing the potential of this method, future work includes refinement in the steps of the CBLM algorithm for a more efficient implementation of the process

Analyze semantic of object-oriented model using RiTa.WordNet

The importance of modeling is obvious with its use to predict cost and time requirement especially in completing a system. However, there is no equivalent standard for evaluating the quality of conceptual models. Thomasson has also shown the difficulties in designing the appropriate UML class diagram such as naming the notation element. The UML class diagram designed by students always neglects the quality in modeling such as consistency and accuracy. This study proposes the use of WordNet in order to achieve the quality in modeling. RiTa.WordNet will be used as a tool to extract synsets from WordNet. The use of RiTa.WordNet shows that synonyms extracted can be used to match the UML class name designed by students. This application will be used to increase the accuracy of object-oriented model
